Wo(men) 5-6Mar

Checkpoint Theatre’s new production, wo(men), presented by NUS Arts Festival 2010, as the Opening Show of the Festival.

wo(men) takes us into the world of a HDB-dwelling Singaporean Hokkien family, comprising grandmother, mother and daughter. 3 ordinary women and 3 ordinary lives.  Except that when seen up close, an ‘ordinary’ life is far from.  Instead, it is complex, confusing, unexpected, funny, and, yes, quite extraordinary. This is a heartfelt and emotional work that captures a very real slice of Singaporean life. It is rich, textured, witty, poignant.

Claire Wong has directed a gifted cast which includes Neo Swee Lin, Lok Meng Chue and Patricia Toh.  This wonderful original play was written by a talented, young playwright, Faith Ng (under Huzir Sulaiman’s mentorship)
