The session on 21st June 2005 was organized in response to members' interest in advocacy. It witnessed the coming together of veteran members, as well as prominent social activist and columnist Constance Singam, along with the newly recruited members of Youth @AWARE. The intimate session introduced Youth @AWARE members to the challenges of the advocacy process, sparked off intellectual debate on gender and discrimination issues and acted as a brain-storming session for Youth @AWARE's future projects. Constance started the session by providing members with the crucial background of AWARE's most prominent achievement to date; the 15-year struggle that culminated with amendments being made to the Women's Charter in 1996. Constance's speech inspired members of Youth @AWARE and paid tribute to the dedication of veteran members of AWARE in pushing for changes to the legislation system and further protection of women's rights.
