White Ribbon Campaign in Singapore |
|
|
|
2006, WRC Singapore is into the fourth year and was run by the Male Chapter of AWARE. Our aims are to encourage reflection and discussion on issues that would lead to personal and collective actions among men.
We encourage men to do educational work in schools, workplaces and communities, to support local women's groups, to raise money for the international educational efforts of the WRC.
In 2006 our theme was “Real Men Don’t Hurt!” and we hoped to convey the message that men need not resort to violence to gain control.

With the theme in 2005 being Family Violence, it was apt that the event was held in the heartlands at the Toa Payoh Bus Interchange. A mini exhibition was also put up by Holy Innocents' High School, and students from Serangoon Garden Secondary School started on their graffiti art piece on "children as silent witnesses".

Projects and Campaign in the year 2004 covered a broad range of topics and issues. How do we accomplish these objectives?
AWARE through the WRC aims to encourage reflection & discussion on issues which would lead to personal and collective actions among men.
We encourage men to do educational work in schools, workplaces and communities, to support local women's groups, to raise money for the international educational efforts of the WRC.
