SKILLS-BASED VOLUNTEERS

Most of our volunteers come to us with specific areas of expertise and help us build and sustain our capacity to achieve our organisational goals. Opportunities are on an ad-hoc basis, meaning that we will reach out only when we have a suitable project for you.

These projects might be:

  • Carried out remotely and/or at our office
  • Part-time / full-time / ad-hoc
  • Flexible in their commitment periods

SERVICE-BASED VOLUNTEERS

Service-based volunteers undergo training and have a minimum commitment period or shifts to take on.

Many women come to AWARE in their times of crisis, and thus require direct, urgent help. Therefore, only trained and committed helpliners, counsellors and legal advisors have direct contact with these individuals.

DOWNLOAD OUR COMMUNITY RESOURCE BOOK

AWARE is grateful to receive an overwhelming number of volunteer applications.

However, we are not always able to match applicants with projects, due to the ad-hoc nature of our volunteer opportunities and the sensitive nature of our services.

Our Community Resource Book aims to provide potential volunteers with knowledge on how to support our goals in your local community and/or organisation. There are many ways to become an advocate for gender equality in Singapore, and we would like to share some ideas with you.

Make us a beneficiary of your organization’s corporate giving.

Does your company have a corporate giving platform, payroll donation scheme or corporate matching programme or grant? Could AWARE become a beneficiary?

Invite us for talks and panel discussion.

Help us build a community of allies by inviting AWARE to speak on gender equality and using this opportunity to engage your colleagues to raise funds for our work!

Engage Catalyse, our training arm, for workshops.

Catalyse is the corporate advisory, consulting, and training arm of AWARE. They partner with organisations to build respectful, inclusive, safe, and empathic (RISE) workplaces where people can truly maximise their potential. Some examples of the workshop topics include: Managing Unconscious Bias, Inclusion and Diversity, Workplace Harassment and Discrimination, Cross-Cultural agility, and Workplace Response to Family Violence.

VOLUNTEER MISSION STATEMENT

AWARE’s relationship with its volunteers must be one that is mutually beneficial. AWARE seeks reliable and enthusiastic volunteers. In turn, AWARE aims to provide interesting and challenging volunteer positions, and provide an environment in which a person feels valued and can grow through meeting dynamic people and being exposed to new ideas.

Please email volunteermanager@aware.org.sg if you have any questions.

We look forward to working with you!
