You Have A Choice is an online interactive book for teenagers. Log on to http://choices.aware.org.sg to access the program. The interactive online book of 4 short stories deals with: Sexual Harassment Premarital Sex Rape Cyber risks At various points of the story, the teenager has to choose the next course of action. The consequences of each choice are explained, and relevant information such as the punishments attached to certain crimes is provided. The real-life situations encourages teenagers to explore their options and make their own decisions, and possibly mistakes too, within the safe and controlled environment of the interactive book. The objective is to provide youths with an experience to make more mature decisions and take responsibility for them. You have a Choice (‘Choices’) was produced and published by AWARE in association with Saatchi & Saatchi, with the support from Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports. Project direction by Sara Dean, written by Rafiq Lehmann. Target Group The target audience is teenagers aged 11-16 years old, and the online book with animation and music was designed with an eye on the interests and internet-computer use habits of young people. How is the programme accessed? Log on to http://choices.aware.org.sg You will have to register, giving basic information such as gender and birth date to get to the site. It takes on average about 90 minutes to work through the four stories. Once registered, teenagers can log on whenever they want. They are encouraged to share their thoughts anonymously and AWARE will respond with the appropriate advice whenever appropriate. |
