The Helpline Fund

AWARE has been running our flagship service, the Women’s Helpline, for over 30 years. When we launched the Helpline in 1991, we had no idea that three decades later, it’d be more necessary than ever—that in 2020 and 2021, the Helpline would break records by receiving more than 6,000 calls each year.

New communications technologies rise and fall, but nothing will ever come close to the sound of a human voice—dispensing crucial information, validating your feelings, and above all, listening. Thousands of women have turned to our Helpline when they’ve felt lost, lonely, or crushed by circumstances beyond their control. Many of them have gone on to access our counselling or legal clinic services. Many others simply needed, in moments of doubt and darkness, a reminder that someone was in their corner.

Running such a service requires enormous behind-the-scenes work: months of intensive volunteer training; staff to manage operations smoothly; research to make sure we’re up to speed on latest developments; infrastructure to keep multiple lines (plus an online chat service) open throughout the day, even during a pandemic.

That’s why we need you. Please contribute what you can to fund the continued operation of AWARE’s Women’s Helpline and related services. The Women’s Helpline, AWARE’s Counselling and Legal Clinic Services are critical services for all women in Singapore. Donate now to support these services.

All donations will be matched 100% by the Tote Board and government.
