We are looking for volunteers who want to get more involved with AWARE. We hope to gather volunteers with similar skill sets (e.g. admin, creative, event organisation) to form workgroups called Skill Squads.
What happens if I join a Skill Squad?
Upon getting through the selection process and joining a workgroup, we will share relevant volunteer projects on an ad-hoc basis. These will vary depending on our organisational needs. You can calibrate your participation in the specific projects and choose to accept or decline, depending on your interest and availability.
What sort of commitment do you need?
We prefer volunteers who can commit to being in the workgroup for at least one year. This ensures that there is time for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us and our work so that you can contribute more meaningfully. There will be opportunities for you to contribute remotely, but some projects may require you to be present in person at the AWARE Centre or at event venues.
What does this mean for me?
We hope that having you in these Skill Squads will allow us to connect you to other volunteers, provide skill upgrading opportunities, and build a relationship with you in the long run.
Who’s your Squad?
All volunteers will undergo a short interview process to help us narrow down the Skill Squad(s) you will join. As a start, we are looking for volunteers to join the following teams:
Admin Aces
Types of volunteer tasks that we will share:
- Support Donor Engagement: Create personalised updates and appreciation letters/gifts for our valued donors.
- Optimise Processes: Develop and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to improve internal processes and support data management (e.g. data entry and clean-up of existing databases).
- Manage Online Store: Assist with running our online store to ensure a seamless shopping experience for supporters. May include organising event sales.
- Support General Operations: This will cover a range of work, e.g. answering AWARE’s main line for general inquiries, supporting us as note-takers in interviews and focus-group discussions.
Skill sets we are looking out for:
- Must possess a knack for keeping things in order, whether it’s sorting through piles of mail or managing digital records.
- Attention to Detail. A sharp eye for accuracy is essential to ensure every letter and package is addressed correctly and every data entry is error-free.
Creative Champions
Types of volunteer tasks that we will share:
- Photography & Videography: Document our community events through captivating photography and videography.
- Content Creation: Work with us to develop engaging content across various platforms, from social media to newsletters. This includes designing promotional materials for various events, putting together post-event videos or story-boarding corporate videos.
Skill sets we are looking out for:
- Creative skills
- Photography / videography
- Media & comms experience
Event Enthusiasts
Types of volunteer tasks that we will share:
- Conceptualise, organise and implement events, from fundraisers to internal retreats and volunteer appreciation parties.
- Support community engagement efforts by assisting us to manage stakeholders and volunteers, coordinate with vendors, secure sponsorships, and manage logistics to ensure seamless event experiences.
Skill sets we are looking out for:
- Experience in event planning and/or implementation.
What happens next?
This is the first time we are getting volunteers involved in this manner, so we hope we can all learn together. If this sounds interesting to you, register your interest here!
We will be in touch to find out more about you, align expectations and discuss how you can contribute. We will reply to all applications received, but please allow us a window of two weeks to arrange a chat, as we are a small team. Once we have identified the competency team that best suits your skills and availability, you will be placed in a Telegram group where volunteering opportunities needing these competencies will be published. You will also undergo an on-boarding programme, which will include an overview of AWARE’s values, history and on-going work.
